Chary is a tool to help users become more cautious and thoughtful with how they spend their money. Chary makes budgeting easy. Users can keep track of their expenses, set spending goals, and visualise how well they do over time. And because 'chary' sounds like 'cherry', Chary is cherry-themed to embrace the pun!
Chary was developed by one person, Asha Ivey. This app began developement during the summer of 2022 as a passion project and launched for the first time in December of 2023.
Chary was created using Python and the framework Flask for the backend. The frontend was created using HTML, CSS, and vanilla Javascript. This app uses Google Cloud's firestore to store data and is hosted using Google App Engine. This app also takes advantage of Google's OAuth for signing users in and Chartjs for almost all of the graphs.
Most of the assets, including icons, animations, and images, were created specifically for Chary by Asha Ivey. The images on the landing page and the profile image options are sourced from undraw.co.
